When I first saw this crow in the fall of 2018, it was barely able to move, limping on its right leg. It was clearly broken. There was a second crow nearby, but it wouldn't abandon it, protecting the poor thing.

I felt sorry for them, so I decided to feed them. To avoid scaring them, I approached them very slowly until they began to show signs of restlessness. Then, placing the food where they could see, I turned and walked away.
Over time, they became accustomed to me and began to recognize me. I also noticed that they never screamed, never begged for anything, and behaved very respectfully. That's when they got their name – tactful.

Now, when I come, they greet me. They fly just ahead, so I can hear the rustle of their wings, and land on a tree branch next to the path. That's how we walk together. Later, I noticed that the crow's right wing wasn't quite right either. She flies well now, but when she's perched on a branch, you can see her right wing drooping. Her leg is also fused, but her toes are always bent. She doesn't seem to mind, though, and walks confidently and cheerfully. And she even smiles.

Interesting work and story! I love crows... but actually, I love them all, and when I think about them, it seems that I love them more than others! )) I had a similar case, only the crow was (probably) very old and sick, and she had a helper (a young one) .. I wonder who the young one is to the old one, maybe from the offspring, or the opposite sex (as is customary there .. we don’t know) .. I just started taking pictures then (3 years ago)) I had a point-and-shoot camera .. A pair of crows always sat on a low maple, and food was put under the tree for them .. this went on for about a year .. and then I saw one sick crow, and later it disappeared .. The frosts in the winter were severe, maybe it found a warmer shelter .. they are interesting! and I feel very sorry for any helpless bird.

Marina Mochalova, thank you! I used to love them all too. I called these two of my crows "gentle," and the rest were just crows to me. But this fall, a huge flock of brazen crows suddenly appeared.
It was only later that I learned that at one of the businesses in our city, where these crows had lived for many years, they started playing recordings of the alarm cries of various birds to scare them away. I nicknamed these brazen ones "Tatar-Mongols." They circled the sky, screaming loudly, like a horde. They plundered all the bird feeders. Where they couldn't reach them, they shook out the food. I had to rehang the feeders so that these Tatar-Mongols couldn't reach them. All the small birds hid and were only unafraid to fly to the feeders when you were standing right there.
That's when I realized I don't like brazen birds. And thank God they didn't stay with us long: they arrived just as quickly as they left. I also realized that all the crows living on our island are actually quite delicate. And it's truly fascinating to watch them. They're very smart and very imaginative.

Nadezhda Lavrova, yes, we always judge birds and animals by our human laws! And they have theirs! From a young age, everyone is taught how to protect themselves from enemies! Some have many, others fewer—it's nature itself, or the Creator intended it that way! The main thing is to be humane ourselves... then, and in a parallel world, when we become birds, ......... )) I'll stop... )) otherwise... ))) Thank you, Nadezhda, for the conversation! )

It seems lame, but the frame does not suffer from this - an unusual angle and setting.
